Historic London Flat Transformation with Restored Frankfurt Kitchen

This project involved an extensive internal refurbishment of a Grade II* listed flat in the Spa Green Estate – recognised as the most complete post-war realisation of a 1930s vision and a landmark example of Modernist architecture. Preserving the integrity of such a historic property required a precise and respectful approach, balancing modern comfort with architectural heritage.

One of the most exciting aspects of the work was the careful restoration of the original listed Frankfurt Kitchen, an iconic element of 20th-century design. Every detail was refurbished with great attention and sensitivity, bringing it back to its former glory while allowing it to function within a contemporary lifestyle. The permitted colour change added a striking new dimension, highlighting its unique features and giving the space a refreshed yet authentic character.

Throughout the refurbishment, our focus remained on precision, honesty, and quality craftsmanship – values that guide all our projects. By combining respect for historical detail with thoughtful updates, the result is a flat that honours its Modernist roots while offering timeless elegance and everyday functionality.
